Expectations

Ever wondered what Charles Dickens’ Great Expectations would look like in a world ruled by crypto, blockchain, air-gapped networks, and nanosecond high-frequency trading?
Expectations by Steve Potter is a gripping, high-tech novella that reimagines the classic as a razor-sharp cyberpunk thriller.
The Thames marshes are now a “Server Graveyard” of legacy silicon. Pip is no longer a blacksmith’s apprentice — he’s a young Bit-Scavenger armed with a soldering iron and signal-sniffer. Miss Havisham is a reclusive Shadow Founder whose private network has been air-gapped since her catastrophic failed merger. Estella is the ice-cold “Perfect Algorithm” trained to break hearts without empathy. And the mysterious benefactor? A Black-Hat Legend escaping a decentralized “Digital Gulag.”

Blending Dickensian drama with blockchain metaphors, witty tech puns, and dystopian atmosphere, this modern adaptation delivers:

✔ A thrilling “Satis Protocol” where class, ambition, love, and betrayal play out in smart contracts and off-chain escapes
✔ Every chapter packed with immersive cyberpunk imagery — server racks rising from black sludge, holographic order books, stealth-fabric suits, and frozen stock tickers
✔ Timeless themes of “Great Expectations” re-coded for the crypto age: from Bit-Scavenger to Citadel Gentleman, from marsh mud to the neon-lit high-frequency world

Whether you’re a cyberpunk fan, a Dickens lover, a crypto enthusiast, or simply crave a fresh literary retelling with heart-pounding tech drama, Expectations is the ultimate page-turner that will hack your expectations and leave you questioning the code of your own “Great Ledger.”
